Big problems need radical solutions. Radical solutions need brilliant minds. Imagine the ideas that emerge when great thinkers, each bringing unique expertise, come together under a shared mission. Deep Science Ventures (DSV) creates the most effective combinations of scientific capital and talent, fostering unique relationships driven by a common goal: building a future where both people and the planet can thrive. They achieve this by focusing on outcomes rather than constraints.
This outcome-driven mindset shapes the core idea behind DSV’s brand—Intentional Emergence. As the orchestrator, DSV carefully curates how ventures take shape, much like the natural (self)organisation of coordinated elements—akin to birds forming flocks in migration. This concept is reflected in the brand’s visual identity, where structured yet organic elements come together toward a unified direction. At the heart of this is the DSV icon, an abstract representation of DSV’s venture-building methodology. Just like their process, it begins broad and systematically narrows down, symbolising the filtering and refinement of ideas into breakthrough solutions.
The overall design system is a flexible, distinctive visual language that feels organic while maintaining a structured focus on the end goal. A visible grid runs through the compositions, attracting all other elements to attach to it—reinforcing the idea of convergence and precision. Illustrative graphics further enhance the sense of intentional structure, while BW Gradual, the brand’s primary typeface, adds a dynamic character through its sharp geometric design.
To effectively communicate DSV’s complex approach, we designed an interactive animated graph that visually represents the eight core steps of their process. This dynamic tool enhances engagement and understanding, making their methodology more accessible while reinforcing the brand’s structured yet fluid nature.
